My Favorite Things: Bath and Body Works

I have something to share with you.

img_1147You know the holidays are coming up, right? Whether I’m getting a gift for a friend or treating myself, this is my go-to place.

One of my favorite things at Bath and Body Works is their Pretty as a Peach sugar scrub. Why is it one of my favorites? Because it makes your skin really soft and it also smells so good. It also kind of tickles so if you are very ticklish- watch out!

Another one of my favorites is the Happy Vibes super smooth body lotion. The scent really makes you happy. When you smell it,  it actually makes you smile! After about 5 minutes your skin is so smooth.

The next product that I love is the Watermelon Lemonade shea butter hand cream. That one was for a season so it is not available anymore but there are plenty of other hand creams. For example the Hello Beautiful shea butter hand cream.

Another product they have that I like is the Magic in the Air ultra shea body cream. The smell Magic in the Air was my first scent. It makes your skin so soft,  SO SOFT!!!!!!! It also is one of the best products there.

The last one I will share is the Japanese Cherry Blossom fragrance mist. It smells exactly like your actually in a forest of cherry blossom trees! It is actually pink and there is a big glitter bottle. I use this as a perfume but you can use it to make your room smell great!

Almost all these smells come in a lotion, body wash or scrub and some have a candle- ask my mom about those.  So after hearing about all those products, do you think you should treat yourself to a nice lotion or candle? I think you should!

P.S.they just got a new scent that is called In the Stars. (it smells awesome)

P.P.S. Don’t forget to sign up for there emails so you can get lots of discounts!

The Kendra Scott Birthday Present

I have something to share with you.

I have been buying Kendra Scott pieces for a few years now and as a follower of the blog Sheaffer Told Me To, Sheaffer blogs about new additions to the KS collection so I don’t have to visit the website all the time. I have bought necklaces at her stores, earrings at Nordstrom and Neiman’s, and even found some great pieces on Rue La La and Gilt. And then I read a FB post that got me really excited….

50% off one item during your birthday month. WHAT? Is that true?  I can choose one item that I love and get it 50% off every March? Awesome! All I need to do is visit a store(we have a few in Dallas including West Village, Legacy and Preston Center) and show my driver’s license.

blueagateThis was my purchase last month for my 40th birthday!!! Thanks Kendra for such a deal on my new earrings!!  They are great!

So visit one of the links above and start “web” shopping……And don’t forget about the Color Bar where you can actually design your own pieces.  Your birthday will be here sooner than you think!

Remember to Celebrate You!

I have something to share with you.

40th-happy-birthday-cakeI turned 40 last week. And just to get it out of the way, let me answer the questions – No, it doesn’t feel different, It’s not scary, I feel great, no, I don’t feel old, I’m not moving slower due to age, it’s lack of sleep.

I was super excited to turn 40 but was not sure how I would celebrate the occasion. After all, when was the last time I planned something for just me?  I plan parties for my daughter, my husband, the holidays and sometimes for friends. But for my 40th, there was no plan. Dinner with the family, nope – wait, we have open house that night at school, so quick dinner out with the family, cards in the morning, maybe lunch with coworkers?

And then my husband surprised me with a trip away for the weekend.  Just the two of us. No schedule, no plan, just a weekend of whatever we wanted to do.  Now, I will admit it was hard to pack since the location was A SURPRISE.  But he did a smart thing(go honey!!)…he called one of my girlfriends, told her where we were going and she helped me pack. Now I was ready to go!

I have never been to New Orleans(crazy with all the work travel I do), and this weekend was for us to do anything and everything.  Wait – no schedule, no rushing from place to place, no making sure everything was kid-friendly????  I could just eat and explore, maybe shop, maybe even sleep in?  We only had one reservation so other than that, there was no plan.  Wow – this would be weird BUT wonderful!  I had one request…..I wanted to blow out a candle for my birthday so I could celebrate my birthday like my daughter celebrates hers(after all, you only turn 40 once and it is a big one)!  And I got a surprise even better than that!!!

IMG_0604Saturday night we went to Galatoire’s, a New Orleans institution on Bourbon street and after the meal, I had the most wonderful 60 second experience!  The waiter came out and asked the entire restaurant to join him in song to celebrate my birthday.  THE ENTIRE RESTAURANT SANG HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME – and I got to blow out a candle with the amazingly delicious bread pudding I ordered for dessert.

This post is a gentle but important reminder – Celebrate You.  Whether it is a 60 second experience or an entire weekend of doing all the things you like to do, Celebrate You……we are worth it!!!

Did you share your wishlist?

I have something to share with you.

Nordstrom WishlistIn our house, I found an easy way to make sure my husband knows what to buy me for the important holidays(you know birthdays, Hanukkah, a random Friday)…I have a Nordstrom wishlist. And all he has to do is go to one store or online to find me the perfect gift.

Please tell me you know about this…..find an item you like, add it to your wishlist and you are done. The only big decision you need to make is if you want to keep your wishlist private and give your spouse/partner access to your account(meaning login info) or make your wishlist public(so anyone can find it and buy something for you).

My friend recently shared with me a blog she follows called Sheaffer Told me To.  It was started by Sheaffer, a Dallas mom, who posts pictures and reviews of clothes, shoes, jewelry, you name it.  Plus she spends A LOT of time at Nordstrom, so I can see what is new, what is on sale, and she includes links to other mom blogs. (Another good one – Check out “Mix and Match Mama” – Shay posts some great recipes!) Anyway, since I shop at Nordstrom more than I should, this was a great find for me.

How much easier can it really be to get the perfect gift?
